Ahmad Tafazzoli was a distinguished Iranian scholar, linguist, and translator who served as a prominent professor at the University of Tehran. Recognized for his deep intellectual contributions, he was a respected figure within the academic community, often pictured surrounded by the books and research that defined his life's work. On January 14, 1997, Professor Tafazzoli left his university office to travel to his home in Shemiran, but he never reached his destination. He was suspiciously murdered in the street during his commute. His assassination is documented as part of the Chain Murders, a series of state-linked political killings targeting Iranian intellectuals, dissidents, and academic voices in an effort to silence critical thought.
